The Maluso Line is the classic military type of Spanish horse. Maluso, right was the frontispiece in the studbook. He was foaled in 1939, at the Military Stud farm.
A group of breeders in Jerez were associated with the military breeding program. Maluso's sire was bred by Baones, from a sire bred by Muira. Maluso's dam was sired by a stallion purchased from the breeder Gurrero.
Escalera mares were an important part of the military breeding program. This group of breeders were the primary source of the "military type".

Agente was the most famous son of Maluso. He was 10 in the 1969 photo at the left.
Agente is regarded by many as the prototype
Spanish Stallion. His photo was used of the cover for the Spanish 1980's book titled. "Structural Characteristics of the Spanish Horse of the Spanish Type".The entrance to the Military Stud breeding farm presents the portrait of Agente in tile.
Agente remains the prototype of the Military Stud breeding program, and his progeny remain at the core of military breeding.
