Live Cover breeding season runs April - August
Live cover is accomplished in-hand with two handlers.
A twitch is used only when necessary for protection of handlers and stallion.
Mare & stallion are washed with plain water before each cover, tail wrapped.
Mares are teased daily and first bred when in a "standing heat" and every 36-48 hours throughout heat cycle. Breeding more often is detrimental and leads to a continued inflammatory response and can result in an inflamed uterus, unable to maintain a pregnancy.

Mare Care Miscellaneous
Mares remain on the farm until out of heat.
Mares are turned out in individual paddocks daily, weather permitting.
If mare is on specialty feeds, bring her feed and mare care costs will be discounted accordingly.
